Thyme Care Milestones

Early 2020

Mission sparked

Inspired by decades of experience in oncology, industry veterans came together to rethink the way the cancer journey is experienced by a person with a vision to bring together all parties, including the oncologist, the payer, and most importantly, the patient. They began developing a new business model that aligns financial incentives across the cancer care continuum, paving the way for every patient to receive the dedicated support they need. The Founding Team flew to New York for the first investor meetings the week before the world shut down for the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mid 2020

Company formation and launch

Thyme Care was officially founded and entered into launch phase. During this time, the core team was assembled, and the company began building the foundational technology, partnerships, and care navigation infrastructure.

2021

First partnership launch and early pilot programs

The company formally launched with $22M in venture capital funding, led by Andreessen Horowitz, AlleyCorp, and Frist Cressey Ventures, to offer oncology care navigation services in partnership with payers and early Thyme Care Oncology Partner (TCOP) oncologists. Thyme Care began to support members in early 2021, launching initial partnerships and pilot programs to validate the model. These efforts demonstrated meaningful impact on patient experience and care coordination.

2022

Strengthened and refined the Care Model

Building on insights from early pilots, Thyme Care refined its care model to better meet the complex needs of people with cancer. The Care Team—made up of medical directors, oncology nurses, and resource specialists—placed a growing emphasis on addressing social needs as a core pillar of care, including financial assistance, transportation, housing, and food support. Throughout the year, Thyme Care continuously improved its model based on real member and Care Team feedback, clinical insights, and a commitment to finding the most effective ways to support members every step of their journey.

2023

Strategic growth and outcomes focus

Thyme Care raised its $60 million Series B financing round and expanded operations into multiple states, deepening partnerships with health plans, ACOs, and risk-bearing providers. Thyme Care’s focus shifted to demonstrating outcomes, including a nearly 20% reduction in total cost of care for navigated members compared to a control group. In addition, the American Oncology Network (AON), one of the largest networks of community oncology practices, partnered with Thyme Care to participate in the Enhancing Oncology Model, a new value-based cancer care framework launched by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation.

2024

Accelerated expansion and platform growth

Thyme Care doubled the lives under management and activated more than 400+ Thyme Care Oncology Partners active in over 20 states. The company expanded its care model with a dedicated complex case management team and new clinical capabilities, including virtual palliative care, serious illness support, and urgent care visits. It advanced its drug intervention strategy to reduce costs while maintaining quality, and unveiled Thyme Box, its care management platform, to better support its virtual Care Team with real-time data, risk stratification, and personalized engagement tools. Thyme Care raised $95M in Series C funding to accelerate growth across all lines of business, including payers, oncology groups, and risk-bearing providers.

2025

National scale and ecosystem integration

Thyme Care reaches national scale through significant partnerships with the nation’s leading health plans, including Humana and Aetna, cementing it position as the leading value-based cancer care enabler. Now available to members in all 50 states, the company tripled the size of its multidisciplinary care team, launched a comprehensive survivorship program, and expanded to meet patients across multiple sites of service. With new technology-enabled navigation features, Thyme Care streamlined provider workflows and personalized care at scale.
